About Me
I'm a computer geek who's been messing around with computers since I was a child. I am strongest with windows, but having been primarily using linux since early 2006. I am blessed to live with my better half, Trian, and her daughter Deanna. I was born and raised in the Hudson Valley area of New York. My interests revolve around computers, ethics and metaphysics in philosophy, theology (primarily Abrahamic religions), computer games, and tabletop role playing (primarily D20).
Professional
I am currently an IT Technician at a high tech manufacturer and developer of liquid ultrasonic atomization technology into nozzle systems and spraying and coating application systems.
Highlights:- Subject matter expert in MAS 200, an accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing tracking system that runs the business.
- Provide hardware/software support for over fifty client systems in various departments including sales, accounting, manufacturing, management, and administration.
- Create ISO documentation for IT related procedures.
Previous to my current position I have worked at a multinational corporation as a Computer Support Specialist where I did some programming and automations for their disaster recovery team.
Highlights:- Created and ran a web app to allow regular employees to nominate and elect peers for awards.
- Created a microcode tracking system for 4000+ (and counting!) pieces of hardare the disaster recovery unit is responcable for.
- Automated data gathering from multiple reporting tools to streamline root cause analysis.
- Functioned as the subject matter expert for a backup solution called Data Domain which minimises network traffic.
- Created a web app to assist team members in tracking problems and recording accomplishments.
- Researched and presented information to the team on solutions for consideration.
My first contract with the same company was in one of their computer hardware manufacturing plants serving as an IT Support Tech and a Programmer on the Logistics team.
Highlights:- Provided hardware/software support for around 50 - 100 PC’s and users on the manufacturing line.
- Designed and implemented computer-based solutions for problems that the engineers and manufacturing support teams come to us with.
- Provided software support to help locate and isolate over two million dollars worth of product that needed to be scrapped to increase manufacturing line efficiency.
- Assisted in creating an end to end accounting system between our factory and one in Canada, to track what parts are currently in transit between sites to more closely facilitate product status tracking.
- Designed and maintained an interactive department website which tracks and displays the Logistics teams current workload and individual project progress, deploying this site format for several other other department as well.
- Created an incident reporting system to track and analyze problems on the line.
- Administered an internal job hunting site to facilitate the transfer of corporate employees out of the department as workload shifted to a site in Canada.
- Involved in an effort to put together a unified database viewing system so that users can access line information in one consolidated location with minimal technical knowledge.
I have extensive experience with Windows Operating Systems (3.11, 95, 98, ME, 2000, & XP), and have also worked with UNIX and AIX servers, and OS/2. At home my primary OS is Linux.
Programming languages I am proficent in include C/C++, Javascript/DHTML, SQL, Net.Data, REXX, HTML/XHTML, and have experience with Java, COBOL, and Perl.
